Long before a kitten has opened his eyes, he can unerringly find his mother using his sense of smell. Cats actually have two separate “noses,” including one that lets them smell chemical signals, known as pheromones, that let them communicate with other cats. These chemicals, which cats deposit on their bedding, scratching posts, territory, and humans, can make them feel comfortable and secure in their surroundings (a good reason not to get too carried away with cleaning!). Learn how you can make the world a better place for your cat by understanding and using her sense of smell in this video.
